Humility

What is the greatest characteristic a leader can have? When God came down as man, people were surprise because he did not fit the mold of earthly leaders who were to be served and often ruled through fear. Our God, the Messiah, was born in a manger, was humble and led with love. Christianity is the only religion which has a God who descending from heaven not to be served, but to serve others. This goes against our cultural exceptions of leadership. So, what’s the lesson to be learned here about leadership? Is leadership about commanding people’s respect or is it earning their respect through humility and service? Learn from Christ's example and lead by lifting up others around you through humility and service.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. - Philippians 2:3
