Board Chairman: Kevin Nosalek

Kevin Nosalek has been an integral part of SEAKERS Aquatic Adventures since its founding, playing a key role in its growth from a small group at Crossroads Church to a recognized North Carolina non-profit organization. As a dedicated SCUBA instructor, Kevin not only shares his expertise but also volunteers his time and resources to support SEAKERS’ aquatic and aviation programs.

Kevin’s wife, Amanda, serves as a law enforcement officer in North Carolina, and together they have two children, Samantha and Colby. The entire family shares a passion for diving, with each holding various levels of SCUBA certification and actively volunteering with SEAKERS.

In his professional life, Kevin works as a pilot for the world’s largest operator of private jets, combining his skills and love for adventure both in the air and under the sea.

Board Member: James Wheeler

Dr. James Wheeler grew up in Currituck, North Carolina. He pursued his undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry. He attended East

Carolina University School of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine.

He married his wife Jackie in 2003 while he was in residency and she was pursuing her PhD. After completing his training, the couple settled in Concord, North Carolina. They are blessed with two sons, Christian and Jackson, and later felt a calling to expand their family through the adoption of two daughters from China—a decision that brought immeasurable joy to their lives.

James has held numerous leadership roles, including Chair of the Department of OB/GYN at Carolinas Medical Center–Northeast (2009-2012) and served as Medical Director of Northeast Women’s Health and Obstetrics 2009-2022.  In addition, he served as Assistant Specialty Medical Director for Atrium Health’s Women’s Health Service Line, overseeing nine OB/GYN practices and spearheading strategic initiatives 2012-2022.

Beyond his medical career, James is deeply committed to his faith and community. He and his family joined Crossroads United Methodist Church in 2006 and have been active members ever since. He has served as Vice Chair (2013-2014) and Chair (2014-2019) of the church's Administrative Council. His passion for service extends globally through his mission work with The Hope Project International in Nicaragua, as well as locally through his role on the SEAKERS Board since 2019.

Board Member: Daryl Huffman

With a career spanning over three decades, Daryl Huffman has cultivated a wealth of experience in business operations and leadership. He excels in business development, personnel and sales management, operations,

training, service, and technical support. His expertise encompasses strategic business planning, forecasting, budgeting, profit and loss management, team building, and shaping a forward-thinking vision for success.

Outside of his professional role, Daryl is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others. He is an active participant in short-term mission trips, a mentor to youth striving to reach their full potential, and a supporter of individuals pursuing their dreams. With a deep sense of gratitude for his blessings, he dedicates both time and financial resources to causes close to his heart. His involvement with SEAKERS stands out as a particularly fulfilling endeavor, enabling him to enhance his diving skills while guiding others to overcome fears and experience the joy of their first dive.

Board Member: Col. Bill Bickel

Bill Bickel discovered his passion for scuba diving later in life, earning his first certification in 2017 at the age of 67. After participating in his first SEAKERS dive event, he quickly became inspired by the organization’s mission and dedicated himself to its cause. His commitment led him to join the SEAKERS leadership team and pursue additional certifications,

including Nitrox and Advanced Diver qualifications.

Bill brings a wealth of experience from his 38-year career in the United States Army, where he served as both an active-duty officer and reservist, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Before his military service, he worked as a Special Agent for the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Academically, Bill holds a Bachelor’s degree, a Master of Education, and a Master of Strategic and International Affairs.

Deeply committed to SEAKERS' vision as a Christian ministry, Bill sees scuba diving as a powerful way to connect with others and share the wonder of God’s underwater creations.
