Spiritual Drowning
When on vacation, scuba divers will often SEAK out the best dive spots and sometimes participate in group scuba tours. These tours are typically lead by a dive master, comes with the required dive equipment, and is already planned out. How appealing is it to not worry about verifying your equipment, decompression stops, or bottom time, after all, you're on vacation. The truth is, these can become the most dangerous dives very quickly, when the divers participating don't check the plan and their scuba equipment. The same concept applies with our spiritual life, we often go on 'spiritual vacations' and follow the crowd. We become complacent, don't dive into the word, follow blindly, and before long, we are drowning in sin. We let our self righteousness tell us that we are ok just because we go to Church on Sunday and everyone else is full of sin. The Christian life is not one of complacency, but a constant serious of checking your spiritual tool bag and building a relationship with Christ. Don't let the devil catch you on vacation, be steadfast, humble, and SEAK out Christ in all that you do.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. - Psalm 51:10
