Precious Moments

If you are a basketball fan or love college basketball you might know who I’m going to talk about. He was a player, coach and broadcaster. He is more commonly known as one of the most positive people anyone knows. His name is Jim Valvano or Jimmy V. In his famous ESPY speech he grabbed the hearts of so many and inspired so many more. He spoke about how precious time is. And he said “I got one last thing, I urge all of you, to enjoy your life, the precious moments you have. To spend each day with some laughter and some thought, to get your emotions going.” He spoke about how important it is to live and not just be living and how important it is to enjoy the time you have. He said “There are 86,400 seconds in a day. It’s up to you to decide what to do with them.” He passed away of cancer shortly after this speech but left behind an incredible and inspiring perspective on life.

Colossians 4:5 says “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity” and Ephesians 5:15-16 says “be very careful, then, how you live --- not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Live like there’s no tomorrow because tomorrow is never guaranteed.
